The Hoons Christmas Special

Greetings, VIP! If you’re here, chances are you’ve followed a link from the JD Kirk VIP Club newsletter. I really appreciate you being a member, and as a reward for following along with my exploits (and hopefully reading my books!) here’s the second edition of THE HOONS, the comic-strip starring Bob, Berta, and Iris that’s – ahem – heavily inspired by long-running Scottish comic, THE BROONS.

If you haven’t read the first issue, or the story of how the whole thing came about, you can do so here. I recommend reading that one first, before coming back here for issue two.

And now, without any further ado, here’s issue two, with art once again by the amazing Stevie White. Click the image to enlarge and zoom in, and let me know in the comments if you’d like to see more of these.

What a great way to start my day off! And I loved how you “broke the fourth wall” with Iris. Brilliant! I hope you make these cartoons a regular feature of your VIP letter. Also, hope you feel better real soon. Those kidney stones are awful!

You are really spoiling us this time around – The Hoons, Advent Calendar videos and the VIP newsletter πŸ˜‰ I will be looking forward to the new books in due course – once I have caught up with the first tranche of the DCI Logan series.

Never heard or read anything about you till I went on a holiday in Scotland last September and read a litter of bones. I’m hooked( is that correct English?) ever since! Read a couple of more Jack Logans and couldn’t stop laughin ‘. Love the Hoons too!!Merry Christmas from the Netherlands!

Brilliant. Don’t what know I like more – the Biffa Baconesque escapades of Bob and Berta, or the metaphysical horror of Iris’ dawning realisation that they’re trapped in a comic strip, just like in Grant Morrison’s Animal Man!
