Congratulations on being a member of the all-new JD Kirk VIP Club!
Until now, the VIP Club has existed solely as a regular newsletter, in which I talk a bit about writing, and a lot about the often-unfortunate situations I find myself in while trying to navigate my way through the real world.
The feedback I get from the newsletters is always incredibly kind and positive, and I thought it would be nice to have a place where they can all be stored, available for new and long-time members to look back on. At last, you’ll be able to relive my horror at discovering a severed head in my dad’s loft, or fondly recall the time I got second-degree sunburn that made it look like I was wearing a bright red T-shirt with nipples.
You’ll also be able to grab all the exclusive content I’ve offered so far, and any new stuff will be added here, too, making it easy for you to find all your bonus VIP Club content.
To access all the content, just use the VIP CLUB menu in the sidebar. It’s that simple!
Thanks for being a member of the club. Let me know what you think of the new set up in the comments.
Best wishes,
JD

Greetings from down under….love this idea of the VIP club…I will have to put up with withdrawal symtoms of another week …
Brilliant! Thank you for setting this up. I’ve been reading the Logan books since you first released A Litter of Bones and it was 99p on kindle. The best 99p I’ve ever spent! Love these characters so much. Just finished Northwind – if I’m ever in a pickle Bob Hoon is who I want in my corner – fantastic read!
Thank you for the invitation. I have enjoyed every book in both series: eagerly awaiting the next of each.
Great to be a VIP member!!
Really pleased to become a member of the new VIP club, absolutely love all the books, they have everything one need’s in them.
Just to let you know I am a big fan but didn’t change my name, I really am called J D Kirk. ☺️🖖🏻
(P.S. My Dad’s name IS James!) 🤣)
Best wishes, Julie from Nottingham.
So happy I found your first book, transfixed thereafter.
I feel like Logan and the gang are part of my extended family. A very weird dysfunctional family, but family that I miss when I’m between books. I can’t wait for the new book. I’ve got my pre-order in. 🙂
Great, nice to have a personal touch from a favourite author
Hi JD, thanks for writing these absorbing and funny books. My lovely neighbour discovered your work and Kent me a litter of bones, and I’ve never looked back 🤣
I’ve lived in the Highlands,so I know the places and it’s great to reminisce as a never to return exile.
Lang may yet lum reek an’ Lang may yer sporran squeak!
Can’t wait for the next books. Now stop writing blogs and get on with it 😆.
I was at a LJ Ross meet up two weeks ago and she mentioned you. In a nice way ! She was talking about the passion you both feel for the areas you base your books. It was surreal for me because you are both my fav authors.
Do you ever do book tours.

Love the new set up. Looking forward to everything that’s yet to come!!😊👍🏻
Nice personal touch. Thanks
Greetings from Cambridge – Massachusetts, that is. Love Jack Logan!
Great to join the club! I love all the books and have just finished the first Hoon novel, which I absolutely loved! He is a fabulous character as is Logan, Tyler and the others. The books have everything a great story, wonderful character’s and lots and lots of humour!
Where can I get Ragnarok Ridge?
Nowhere yet! It’s coming next year. 🙂
Aye that’ll explain it 🤣🤣 thanks xx
I love your books and newsletters. You make me laugh out loud! I am headed to Scotland next spring. Any suggestions for Americans from Virginia?
Great to join the club and I love this layout.
Andrew Raymond recommended your Bob Hoon books to me. Absolutely enjoyed my introduction to this totally loveable bastard of a man. I laughed out so many times during my read that I lost count. Bought the next two and look forward to the evolvement of the story. Love, love, love.
I love your books and your stories coming to me in Australia
I love the DCI Logan books. As an exiled Scot they transport me back home (not that I’ve ever encountered a murder!) But the descriptions of places I know, how the characters interact and what they eat, especially what they eat, makes me just a tad homesick…
Have loved every Logan and Hoon book, can’t wait for the next two. So nice to have contact with you. Please keep writing! X
Glad to be a member and love all of your books.quite familiar with some bits of Scotland.brings back many memories of different places xx
Great to be part of this Club. Long term fan of Logan but have to say Hoon every time now- he is the ultimate anti hero unlikeable but likeable Hero!
Great to be a member of the VIP Club. I have really enjoyed every book in the Logan and Hoon series and am eagerly awaiting the next of each.
Love all the books and all the characters. Can’t wait for the new ones. Mad stories but somehow still really believable!
Well done JD, keep safe pal, and don’t let Hoon take you shopping 😂👍
I’m nosey so I never ignore a chance for more gossip and news (I’m not really). Love your books. I usually get fed up with characters eventually but I am still hanging in there with Logan and Hoon etc. Great stories
I love being a VIP and look forward enormously to your emails which are always hilarious! This new set up sounds like it’s going to be great!
Keep it coming JD
Just gets better and better, a nice personal touch!
Read all your books and always eagerly await the next one. Curious about another Scottish author TG Reid who has placed your name in his first book “Dark is the grave” as a bully to the son of the main character in the book. Do you and TG have a special relationship for him to have done this?
What a jolly idea Mr. Kirk. Nice to commune with fellow fans of yours. I always get a definite buzz of pleasure reading your stories, particularly as they are so reflective of real life (I think anyway), such as hiding the wrappers from the After Eight mints. Nice one.
An brilliant series of books, always ready for the next adventure. Any thoughts on a TV series?
You’re amazing. I’m glad you’re keeping a close eye on Hoon, as his trouble-prone nature is one of my favorite phenomena on earth. The Kirk/King Hoon creation is a bloody marvel. (I said “bloody” and I’m American, so your pervasive presence in my life has either upgraded or downgraded me in some way). Cheers from across the pond! Long Live the–!oops.no.my bad.scratch that.
I hate that I have a period hanging outside a parenthesis up there and I can’t edit that.
I agree with everything everybody has said 🙂 (Spain)
Thanks for this, I have a brother who did all his years as a polis in Glesga and I feel I know all the characters. You have them all down to a T. Keep up the great work.
Truly a huge fan of your writing. Wishing you happiness, health and the energy to write a lot more books.
A committed reader from the states!
Greetings from the Pacific Northwest! Love your books, as they make me laugh out loud. You just have a way! Can’t wait for more. Cheers!
Thanks for your writing. In Florida. Love you books. I often have to look up words which is a new thing for me. It’s a lovely challenge.
I’m another Aussie fan. Please, please, please more DCI Logan. You’re on to a winner there, but I’m at the stage where I’m probably going to start re-reading the series to get my Logan fix. Bob Hoon is great, but as mentioned in an earlier post he’s an acquired taste like Glen Moray. Besides, his houseboat is toast. I really appreciate learning a wee about the old sod, especially since I’ll never get there.
Here’s tae us
Wha’s like us
Damn few,
And they’re a’ deid
Mair’s the pity!
Been reading and pre-ordering all your books since first finding A Litter Of Bones on my Kindle recommendations. Love the way you create your absorbing stories and your strong lovable characters with our unique Scottish humour too. I especially love the vile, obscene insults that Hoon delivers, they just get better and more ridiculous with each book, I’ve no idea how you think them up but they are the best by far! Well done. This new extra VIP Club is a fantastic idea. Can’t wait for next week to catch up with Logan and the team.
In Cyprus on holiday from west of Scotland. Reading southpaw dead slow as your new release is not due out till next week. It’s impossible to read your books slow and burn my pale blue Scottish skin lol.
Busy reading Westward, another great book. Love both the Logan and Hoon books, you make the characters come to live.
Logan and Hoon both rock…..,hope there’s plenty of mileage left in their tank. Strange thing is I hated Hoon when I first came across him, but he’s grown on me as more layers of his character have been revealed. Brilliantly written and developed.
Looking forward to the new Logan book next week – will have to the & resist starting it until the weekend so I can read it on holiday! Love the Logan & Hoon books as does my partner (originally from the Aberdeen area) – often end up almost crying with laughter at Hoon’s outrageous behaviour! Thank you
Sounds interesting but would have to have something else to make it stand out.
